social networking transforms to networking for cash
Facebook last year turned downa takeover bid of a billion dollar. why? cos information is power and power is money. If you have a network of a 100 friends and u add them to facebook, they make money cos you feed them with important information about yourself and it might not seem that important to you, but your information is worth a lot of money and networks like Orkut, Facebook etc are making money out it.
On this scene, another social networking website just came up with the promise that they will share the money they make by the amount of time that you spend in browsing these networks and inviting friends and creating ur own network with you. They say they earn a lot of money through ads and searches that you do.
They say that they ll pay upto 5 hours per month as of now, of the revenue that we earn for them through these ads.
I just installed the viewbar, its a bit of a space off my desktop, but then hey, what the heck its just 5 hours a month, i installed it at work, so i dont really lose anything
Check it out and try building your network, I am also waiting to see what sorta network this is and how much is the earning potential.

Euclid’s theory of infinite primes
Euclid’s theory of infinite primes is probably one of the first theories you’d learn in maths and would think to yourself “brilliant!!” everything that comes before it seems quite obvious. quite obvious even though the people who had discovered those theories had gone through great pains and societies and fellow mathematicians had badgered them when they actually presented it to the world no matter when it is.
Euclid’s this theory is about 2000 years old, yet it stands as one of the first affirmative proofs.
Euclid proved that there are infinite number of prime numbers and proved it by a method called ‘contradiction’ or ‘reduction to absurdity’. here it goes.
first we assume the opposite : let there be only a finite set of primes and let K be the largest prime.
Now the deduction:
lets consider a number
1 + (1 X 2 X 3 X 5 X 7….. X (K-2) X (K-1) X K )
which is one plus the multiple of all the primes upto the largest prime K. If we divide this number by any of the “known” set of primes, we would get a remainder 1. Which means the number itself is a prime number and hence the contradiction arises from what we assumed earlier.
This is Euclid’s proof.
What follows is Bijur’s theory. In Euclid’s theory, what we have is the universe. Its the universe of all numbers. The assumption in this theorem is that K is the largest prime. Also another hidden assumption is that the universe of integers is infinite (proved in the same way by considering k + 1 as the next integer).
Now a 32 bit computer computing this case and we have a 16 bit integer(2 byte) wouldn’t have an infinite universe, nor would it hence have an infinite set of prime numbers. the limit you can push it is till 65535 if you are using integers. the same is the case with float or double or whatever you are using. i just used int since they’d be easier to picture. mathematics on a paper maybe perfect, but on a computer there always has to be an anomaly. a recurring round off at the millionth or the billionth place is still an anomaly.
computers are inherently limited stuck at the what you could specify as the limitage of ‘1’s and ‘0’s. There is only either a “yes” or a “no” to any given question. There is only the possibility of a high or low voltage. What they actually need is a possibility to bring the third state. the “maybe” state or the “don’t know” state.
Lets assume an AI program that is trying to figure something out. it traverses a tree. at the root node, it has 3 options to go to. it looks at the leaf at option 1, is it a yes or no? no. option 2, is this a yes or no? no, option 3 is this a yes or no? yes. it choses option 3. what is the limitation of this design? either one of the three options has to be a yes or no. what if all are yes or all are no. can we keep a maybe or assume the possibility of the computer not to know something? after all that is intelligence isnt it? to a question, there is either a ‘yes’, or a ‘no’, or a ‘maybe’ or a ‘do not know’. it is when a computer or a computing device, s/w or h/w or any forms that can accept a maybe or a do not know and search for the maybe’s and do not know’s and then ‘learn’ from it when u get an artificially intelligent system.
I ve been reading another book, that asks this question,
what is common between sumo wrestlers and school teachers?
I have no idea what it might be, thought for it for sometime, but the lateral thinking windows are quite wide shut. If there is someone who wants to guess, please pour in your ideas in the comments section.

This is on the cover of this book. Is a pretty smart cover, (actually the reason why i insisted on getting book). The books is about how two events(apples and oranges) though might sound very distinct might be related. Am just reading through the book now, and hence am not really sure what sumo wrestlers have in common with school teachers yet. Will sure post it, if i find it interesting, but it would be great to know what you guys think about the same.

/me is back!
/me is back and i have been doing some weird testing with my machine. trying to get an smp aware 64 bit OS on my am2 machine. well if u have an am2 machine and you wanna go ahead with a similiar setup, it takes only two steps
- Download this iso image of debian base system for amd64
- Burn the dowloaded image onto a CD-R/RW disc. RW would be great since this would be a one time thing
- Install from the disc. There is only minimal user involvement. (mainly for partition sakes)
- Once this is done, this installs a minimal system, set your mirrors right and install x-window-system and gnome(which ever desktop you want). Also upgrade to kernel 2.6.21
From what I read up almost all the latest kernels are smp aware, but after my fresh install i noticed that the scheduling was mainly focusing on cpu0 (first core) so my cpu0 almost always was loaded and cpu1(second core) kicked in only once in a while. i though it was more due to lack of usage of multi-threaded s/w. But after I upgraded to 2.6.21 the cpu0 and cpu1 were quite well balanced. top and option “1″ shows cpu’s balanced out.
i still have some work, cos amd64 on debian is quite challenging. Just like in windows 64 bit OS, you dont really find any drivers for the 64 bit OS. there are a lot of hacks involved in getting things like java, flash, sound and all but what you get is symmetric multiprocessing, harnessing the real power of your amd 64 bit dual core processor.
i will be updating further progress on this machine. all in all the desktop looks nice considering that i am running on debian lenny (testing) which is still a year behind technology, this seems quite stable.
to-do: get snd-usb-audio to actually make some noise out of my creative inspire 5.1 (*grins*)
Note: the nokia navi punchline “finally, a phone that tells you where to go” is crap. It’d make more sense and is logically better if they’d said “finally, a phone that tells you how to get places”. HIRE ME NOKIAAAAA!

Where the blacktop ends
Gonna kick off my shoes
And run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet
Goin’ back to the well gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul where the blacktop endsI’m lookin’ down the barrel of Friday night
Ridin’ on a river of freeway lights
Goodbye city I’m country bound
‘Til Monday rolls aroundGonna kick off my shoes
And run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet
Goin’ back to the well gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul where the blacktop ends

amigos no more tears
I was watching a match yesterday and as the final whistle blew, the players in white fell on the ground, crying tears of joy. the players in white couldn’t believe the feat. the magnitude of which no human tongue, nor human words can fathom. yes, Iraq won the Asian cup. And as they were greeted by the thundering applause in the crowd, various pictures came rushing into my mind, the ones of the most henious thing I have ever seen on public television, a person actually being hanged to death, a country brought down to dust by scuds and missiles and gun shots. scenes of mothers and children dead, scenes of people wailing with blood all over their bodies.
A broken shell of a country being tormented and exploited to the very core, by what reminds me of what the British East India company did to my country 400 years ago. Amidst all this, the Iraqis have come out shining colors, defying all odds, defying fate itself to come out and prove to the world what their mettle is. Words escape me as I try to put in my words, the feelings of respect that I feel for these people. To bring a smile into a world amidst so much pain is a thing of dreams.
One look at this man’s face and it tells stories of years of war and pain and sufferings and to see this smile. I very selfishly wish if only it was me who had brought this joy to this person. If only it was me who was the reason for this smile. Cos whatever can make a person smile like this would be blessed a million times by God Himself.
Years of sufferings, pain and torment wiped out , even if for a day, by a sport. That is what a sport should do, that is what a sport must do and that is what makes a sport great. Let me join millions and billions of humans around the globe in wishing Iraq and its citizens heartily on this occasion and praying that may this be a new beginning for them, may this be the beginning of their happy days. God bless you all.
This is a tribute to all your brothers who died in war, this is a tribute to all your brothers who are suffering under oppression and outside rule. Unite now and become the great nation you are. Words fail me when I try to express my respect for your comrades who did your country proud. Words fail me when I try to express my respect for their iron will, the power of their character and the strength of their hearts. Let me join vineeth and say once again “I salute you.”
Como esta amigo
For the death of those we don’t know
Shall we kneel and say a prayer
They will never know we care
Shall we keep the fires burning
Shall we keep the flames alight
Shall we try to remember
What is wrong and what is rightIf we do forget them and
The sacrafice they made
Will the wickedness and
Sadness come to visit us againNo more tears, no more tears
If we live for a hundred years
Amigos no more tears
Amigos no more tears

the seinfeld religion
decided to watch the whole series. started off by buying season 1 and 2.
for the uninitiated and those who are still stuck with the rembrandts inspired ‘friends”, jerry seinfeld is a stand up comedian and “the seinfeld chronicles” is a show that aired on cnn in 1989. the show is about “nothing in particular” there is no story there is no drama. Its general day to day conversations of jerry with george/larry his absolute loser friend (which is based on the real life person larry who is executive producer of seinfeld.) his wacky crazy neighbour kramer and his ex-girlfriend Elaine. the show is about nothing and basically shows his stand up and some discussions and conversations which we encounter in day to day lives sprinkled with humour and a sense of well covered sarcasm(i think) which leads up to his stand ups.
one particular quote of seinfeld
..Why is commitment such a big problem for a man? I think that for some reason when a man is driving down that freeway of love, the woman he’s with is like an exit, but he doesn’t want to get off there. He wants to keep driving. And the woman is like, “Look, gas, food, lodging, that’s our exit, that’s everything we need to be happy…Get off here, now!” But the man is focusing on sign underneath that says, “Next exit 27 miles,” and he thinks, “I can make it.” Sometimes he can, sometimes he can’t. Sometimes, the car ends up on the side of the road, hood up and smoke pouring out of the engine. He’s sitting on the curb all alone, “I guess I didn’t realize how many miles I was racking up.”
and
…I once had a leather jacket that got ruined in the rain. Why does moisture ruin leather? Aren’t cows outside a lot of the time? When it’s raining, do cows go up to the farmhouse, “Let us in! We’re all wearing leather! Open the door! We’re going to ruin the whole outfit here!”
and millions of others like this and better ones.
i have decided to collect the entire series. its just way too good to miss. check some of his quotes here
i was having food the other day and i asked for ayam penyet (rice with chicken) and the guy asks/tells me “chilly more can?”. i had to think for a while what this meant. Singaporeans have so bad an English that what they call chilly is sweet.
Cant imagine kids growing up here. Parents, especially those from the subcontinent, are paranoid bringing up their children here. They are worried their daughters would have some relationship with other guys, so much so that they send their daughters to girls high schools. And what do they get? Lesbians. ‘Well if u don’t want me to get involved with some guy, I might as well fool around with a girl.’ . One thing i don’t understand about the lesbians i see here is why they are so. i used to think women turn lesbians because they don’t like men. But if you observe the lesbians here, you would always see one of the couple always dressed like a man! get a life hypocrites!!
I was watching seinfeld the other day and as usual seinfeld and george were talking and seinfeld just broke up with elaine and george says ‘well so i cant talk to elaine either’.jerry asks ‘why?’. george says ‘break up by association!! duh’ and i was thinking to myself, such a thing doesnt happen anymore, does it?
…Men and women all in all, behave just like our basic sexual elements. If you watch single men on a weekend night they really act very much like sperm – all disorganized, bumping into their friends, swimming in the wrong direction. “I was first.” “Let me through.” “You’re on my tail.” “That’s my spot.” They’re like the Three Billion Stooges. But the egg is very cool: “Well, who’s it going to be? I can divide. I can wait a month. I’m not swimming anywhere.”
In singapore everyone has a superiority complex. Everyone thinks they are superior than the other. The chinese think that because of their fair skin, they are superior. The Indian expats think that because they are here cos no one in this country could do their job think they are superior since they are smarter than all else. The Malaysians .. er .. umm.. i guess cos they have women with the biggest butts think that they are superior. i really don’t understand the whole concept. cos every morning i see each and every race slogging it out 7 am to 7 pm like stooges in almost everywhere u look.

thank you.
thanks for all the wishes. Yes! its official. I am 26.
Got this from one of the websites.
Happy Birthday abdulbijur,
Why not seize the day to check out how your life is going? Rethink your errors and remember your successes, forgive yourself for your failures and take pride in your achievements. And remember that these errors, successes, failures and achievements are your story, the story of your life.
And for this reason they should all be equally valued. Without them, you would not be who you are today. We would like to wish you lots of peace, health, happiness and, of course, lots of love.
And of course the song of the moment had to be :
So understand
Dont waste your time always
Searching for those wasted years
Face up… make your stand
And realise youre living in the golden years
